3-Day Baja Mexico Cruise from Los Angeles

Or sail on a catamaran to Lover’s Beach, and snap a photo in front of El Arco on your way. Mexico’s wild west coast offers just as much natural beauty, vibrant culture and sun-kissed adventures as its eastern counterpart, the Riviera Maya. Cruise from Los Angeles onboard the Amplified Navigator of the Seas® to Baja’s brightest jewels, like foodie-favorite Ensenada, fun-loving Cabo, charming Mazatlán and scenic Puerto Vallarta. In partnership with Bill Esparza, a James Beard Award Winner, our culinary excursions introduce you to the region’s bold flavors.

IN THE MEXICAN RIVIERA

Enjoy ziplining through Boca de Sierra, kayaking through Paradise Cove in Cabo, riding an ATV through Puerto Vallarta and more on a Mexico cruise. There are more than 20 shore excursions you can book when you buy your cruise or while you are on the cruise ship. Excursion options range from nearby wine country tours of Valle de Guadalupe (Guadalupe Valley), to surfing, kayaking, food tours and lots more. Our Princess fleet includes ships that offer a multitude of amenities and feature the innovative MedallionClass® experience. From a balcony stateroom, take in the sights and sounds of the colorful cultures ashore before enjoying the “sabor” of local cuisine in one of our many eateries during your Mexican Riviera cruise.

Cabo San Lucas Getaways

Our son had a great time and loved connecting with other teens and my husband and I found we were on our own for most of our cruise — having dinner on our own and enjoying many of the onboard shows. There is so much to do on the Carnival cruise and with a three-day cruise, we found we spent very little time in our room and preferred lounging at the pool to the stateroom. When we say that Carnival Miracle takes you to another world, we mean that in every sense.

Day 4: Puerto Vallarta

On a Mexican Riviera cruise with Princess, travel back in time to the 19th century during a visit to Mazatlan’s Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Admire the Moorish and Gothic architecture, and marvel at statues of famous saints — like Matthew, Mark, Luke and John — that decorate the church’s exterior. Then head inside to see baroque decor, crystal chandeliers and gold-lined murals. With a culture as timeless as the scenery, Mazatlan is a jewel in Mexico’s crown. Stroll past the colorful homes and artisan stalls that line the streets.

Experience every side of Mexico when you spend two full days in Cabo San Lucas on a Mexico cruise with Princess. Enjoy Cabo’s vibrant nightlife as you dance and sip cocktails under the night sky. During our day in port, we chose to explore the town on our own. We’ve visited Ensenada and the wine country many times, so we enjoyed visiting a local museum, lunch at Muelle 3 and strolling through town.

Day 3: Cabo San Lucas

Because of the teen club, which my son loved, we found we had lots of time to relax and enjoy the cruise to Mexico as adults. A sprawling resort-style pool deck that’s perfect for soaking up the sun. Gamechanging thrills like The Blaster® aqua coaster and Riptide℠ mat racer. When you cruise from Los Angeles onboard the Amplified Navigator of the Seas®, every sea day is something to look forward to. Another fan-favorite stop on cruises from Los Angeles to Mexico, Cabo San Lucas totally lives up to the hype. Follow our social media and blog for the latest cruise and travel news, including our best vacation deals.

With Mexican culture infused into every menu, experience the country from scratch. Taste rare spirits alongside a chef in Puerto Vallarta, and learn how these liquors travel from field to glass. Or prepare salsa and margaritas alongside a local in Cabo — only on a Mexico cruise with Princess.

Head to  museums to see the surreal works of Frida Kahlo and ancient artworks excavated from the Maya civilization. Or see Mayan ruins up-close-and-personal — remnants of ancient temples, like Chichen Itza and Tulum, stand just a stone's throw from pristine beaches, so you can take a soak or a surf after your history lesson. And be sure to immerse yourself in the colonial architecture, bustling parks and lively, spice-fragrant marketplaces in Mexico City, Puebla, and Cancun. Extend your cruise vacation, and simplify your travel plans with a hotel stay at the beginning or end of your cruise.

Learn about the traditions of the Aztec people during a tequila tasting with a local Puerto Vallarta restaurateur. Or meet one of Mazatlan’s most famous chefs, Diego Becerra, and spend the afternoon in his seafood bar, Compañia Minera. This is a fun itinerary for a weekend getaway, but after experiencing a 3-day cruise, we all agreed that we’d love to try a longer cruise.

My husband, son, and I sailed with Carnival for this 3 Day Baja Mexico cruise from Long Beach. It is a great long weekend vacation, especially for anyone within easy driving distance of Long Beach, California. It’s not all action, though, because relaxation options like Cloud 9 Spa™ and Serenity Adult-Only Retreat™ are on the menu. In Mexico, you can explore an array of culturally unique cities like Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas and Cozumel, as well as cruise ports such as Huatulco, Costa Maya and the Yucatan. And the best way to get to know these places is by arriving from the water. There's a more lax attitude about time in Mexico so factor in an extra half-hour to an hour when planning out your Mexico cruise itineraries.

Whether you explore on land or unwind on board, there’s fun to be had for everyone. Recognized by Porthole Magazine as “Best Multi-Generational Cruise Line,” our Mexico cruises offer activities for all ages. Adults can indulge in the region’s food and beverages while kids can kayak, paddleboard or swim in the sea.

See how many new discoveries you can fit into just a few days on unforgettable weekend cruises out of LA. Catalina Island has long been a favorite spot to escape the bustle of LA. With its scenic hiking trails, pretty sailboat-studded bays, and quaint, Mediterranean charm, it’s the perfect destination to soak up the sunshine and slip into a vacation state of mind. Sail there on a three-night cruise from Los Angeles so you can break away from the daily grind and chase island vibes instead.

You can get a glimpse of the country's most renowned artist, Frida Kahlo, at the Frida Kahlo Museum in Playa del Carmen. You'll find everything from high art to colorful villages brimming with life and tradition on your cruise to Mexico. Experience flavorful food, mesmerizing landscapes and ancient past with a cruise to Mexico. Plus the adults have plenty of spots for a drink, like the fan-favorite Alchemy Bar™ and Heroes Tribute™ Bar, which refreshes everyone while paying tribute to men and women of the military. For the kids, don't worry — there's three youth spaces where you can hang out with others your age, plus we've got real Zumbini™ classes for the even-littler ones.

From coffee and salsa to spirits and artisan goods, discover the best things to buy in Mexico cruise ports when you sail with Princess. I’m sure if we did a longer cruise, there would be more family time, but with just three days my son opted to hang with the other teenagers on board. The teens in Club O2 hung out in the club room, went to onboard shows, the video arcade and met for meals.

Your dream beach day awaits on a Mexican Riviera cruise to Cabo. When you travel to Mexico, one of the best ways to enjoy the country is by immersion. Try the local food, shop the local markets, and choose excursions that allow you to spend time getting to know a specific neighborhood, historic site or natural wonder. Cruise to Mexico and find everything from volcanoes, jungles and deserts and beaches, to enjoy outdoor and urban adventures of all kinds.
